CANCELED!! DELTA SOCIETY THERAPY DOG TESTING
July 11, 2009, from 11 AM
The evaluator had to cancel this testing session. Look for a reschedule date in the very near future. We have limited appointments for therapy dog testing with the Delta Society. To qualify, your dog must be at least 7 years old, know her basic commands, and be friendly and free of aggression. Contact us for more information and to schedule an appointment.
SENIOR DOG BOWL: SUMMER EDITION
July 12, 2009, from 4-8 PM
Join us for an evening of fun, food, bowling, and prizes at Mezar's Lanes in the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of Cleveland. Unlimited bowling on shared lanes, shoe rental, pizza, salad, and dessert are all included for the low price of $20 a person. Happy hour drink prices, raffle prizes, door prizes, loads of people who love old dogs, and bowling, bowling, bowling. Best of all, the proceeds save the lives of old dogs abandoned in pounds and shelters. What could be better?
For information on making your prepaid reservations, call 216-485-9233. Reservations will be accepted through July 6. The last several Senior Dog Bowls were sell-outs, so don't miss the fun and your opportunity to help the Sanctuary help old dogs.
YOGA IN THE PARK: FREE YOGA AT HORSESHOE LAKE PARK, SHAKER HEIGHTS

Get Grounded! Join Julie from Luna Presence Yoga for outdoor yoga on Sunday, July 19th at AM*. If you've never taken your practice outdoors, here’s your chance to rejuvenate your mind, body and spirit in the arms of Mother Nature! This relaxing, gentle, hatha class is geared for adults, but young adults are certainly welcome.
Donations will be welcomed to support the Sanctuary for Senior Dogs.

SANCTUARY NIGHT AT THE RACES
July 25, 2009, from 5 PM (gates open), heats begin at 6 PM, feature race at 7:05 PM
Join the Sanctuary at the Lake Erie Speedway (near Erie, PA) for a night of fun and racing. The Sanctuary will have a presence at the track, distributing literature and educating people about old dogs. Newman, a handsome Yellow Lab and track ambassador adopted from the Sanctuary last year, invites all of his friends to join his people Kim and Jay at the track. Because of the noise and heat, no dogs will be at this event. Come and show your support by wearing a Sanctuary t-shirt. 9th ANNUAL SUMMER SCOOP & REUNION OF OLD DOGS: THE OLD DOG PARTY OF THE YEAR
August 8 from 3 - 7 PM
Join us at the Brookside Reservation within the Cleveland Metroparks for an afternoon of fun and games for old dogs and the people who love them. Bring your friendly older dog and all your friends and neighbors and don't miss the fun. The activities of the day will feature the Old Dog Olympics, photo opportunities, games, and contests. Bobbi, a senior search and rescue dog, will offer a tracking demonstration. Come on out and see senior dogs in action. Plenty of refreshments will be on hand, including pizza, chips, beverages, and desserts. And, of course, treats for our four-legged friends.
NEW THIS YEAR:
The Old Dog Idol. Is your old dog the next Old Dog Idol? A fun contest for dogs 7 and over emceed by WKYC's AJ Colby, Old Dog Idol will select that one special old dog who represents the best of the best. The winner will be judged on personality, story, relationship with family, and that old dog "pizzazz" factor. This event is for "naked" dogs; no costumes, just the old dog in all his or her glory. Registration $2 the day of the event.
NASCAR at the Scoop. Jay Queen is bringing his race car wrapped with the Sanctuary logo fresh from Lake Erie Speedway. With him will be unofficial track ambassador Newman, a senior Yellow Lab adopted from the Sanctuary last year. If you are a racing fan, you will not want to miss the excitement.

HOW TO GET THERE:
From 480, exit at Ridge Road and travel north to John Hayes Blvd. Turn right on John Hayes (there will be a large Metroparks sign), and go down the hill to the covered pavilion on your right. Free admission, fully accessible, and plenty of free parking.
DOG DAYS AT THE GARDEN

From I-480:
Take 480 from the east or the west to 176 North to Cleveland. Exit at Spring Road/Hinckley Parkway. Turn left and travel to Broadview Road (a gas station, family restaurant, mower repair, and dry cleaners mark the intersection). Turn left onto Broadview Road and travel approximately one-half mile. The Sanctuary is on the left, just past the corner of Schaaf Road and Broadview Road, next to the Marathon station in a building shared with Gem Ornamental Iron Company.
From I-90:
Take 90 from the east or west to the 71 South split. Follow 176 South. Exit at Spring Road/Hinckley Parkway. Turn right and travel to Broadview Road (a gas station, family restaurant, mower repair, and dry cleaners mark the intersection). Turn left onto Broadview Road and travel approximately one-half mile. The Sanctuary is on the left, just past the corner of Schaaf Road and Broadview Road, next to the Marathon station in a building shared with Gem Ornamental Iron Company .
From I-77:
Take 77 North to the 480 split just across the Valley View bridge. Follow 480 West to the very first exit, 176 North to Cleveland. Exit at Spring Road/Hinckley Parkway.
